COURT: Marion County Virginia Circuit Court Record; Page 954, Pritchard  Oct. 29, 1860 deposition of Andrew Barnhouse..." I am the son of Henry Barnhouse, desc. have resided in this county many years and am about 57 years old. My father formally resided in this county on land he sold to plaintiff for about $1200. My father removed to Indiana shortly after selling his land. Thomas E. Barnhouse, defendant, is a son of Henry and half brother of mine. He was born 14 November 1830. Benjamin Ice was administrator for Henry." This seems to be a from a lawsuit between Thomas & William Pritchard. Deed made Aug. 25, 1849 between Henry Barnhouse and wife, Matilda, to Thomas Barnhouse & William Pritchard, Jr: 100 acres, Chunks Run. Book 4, pg. 50.

As far as we know Andrew spent most of his adult life in Marion County, WV. He had many land deeds on record in Monongalia & Marion Counties. His will was written Jan. 14, 1885, Probated April 5, 1886. It is on record in Marion Co. WV Book 2, page 340. His estate settlement is dated March 15, 1888. The will is also recorded in Ritchie Co., West Virginia. On his second marriage Simon Barnhouse was bondsman

Catherine Barnhouse

Information from 1850 Census:  Catherine HIGGINS is living with Jedudiah HIGGINS, who is listed as head of household. Catherine is female, white, age 45, and born in Virginia.

The census records find this family in Harrison Co. 1840, Marion Co. 1850, Wirt Co. 1860,  Jackson Co. 1870, and in Mason County 1880. In the mid-1880s they returned to Wirt Co. where they spent their final days with their son, Hezekiah Higgins. They are buried at Rockhold Cemetery, Standing Stone area, Wirt Co. WV. Judiah was a farmer, wood worker and bought and sold a lot of real estate in the various counties of WV.


Jacob Bunson Morgan

Jacob was a farmer and mechanic, they spent most of their lives on the farm in Mannington WV.  They are mentioned in the Marion County History and Biographical Cyclopidia of Marion, Monongalia and Taylor Counties.
